1 - MARC 1

MARC 1, available since 2005, is the accident reconstruction software program paralleling the engineering and reconstruction concepts discussed in “Motor Vehicle Accident Reconstruction and Cause Analysis” by Rudolf Limpert. Its predecessor is LARM2 copyrighted in 1992 and sold by SAE International. It was expanded to include low-speed impacts, rollover, braking accident causation, accident avoidance analysis modules and others.

2 - PC-BRAKE FACTOR

Calculates the brake factor, and hence, brake torque of leading-trailing, 2-leading, and duos-servo drum brakes with different abutment designs including air S-cam and wedge brakes. The underlying equations are discussed in Chapter 2 of “Brake Design and Safety”.

3 - PC-BRAKE TEMPERATURE

Calculates brake temperatures in a single stop, repeated or continued braking based upon analytical closed-form solutions. The underlying equations are discussed in Chapter 3 of “Brake Design and Safety”.

PC-BRAKE AIR SOFTWARE PROGRAMS

Used by brake engineers to design the brake system layout and to select appropriate components to meet applicable performance requirements. Accident reconstruction experts use the programs to evaluate defective brake conditions, analyze individual brake lockup sequence, and determine vehicle deceleration for a variety of mechanical and loading conditions. The underlying engineering concepts are discussed in Chapters 6 and 7 of “Brake Design and Safety”.
